MIRPUR (AJK): May 12: Azad Jammu Kashmir on Monday successfully achieved Rs. 193 million Phase-III of the Grand Residential Housing Project, exclusively meant for shelterless widows, across the state, launched by Kashmir Orphans Relief Trust, Mirpur AJK, the South Asia’s largest Rehabilitation and Educational Non-governmental Organistion.
The 3rd phase of the homeless widows housing project involves the construction of 82 residential houses of 3 to 5 marlas of lands, fully sponsored by the KORT, in various parts of AJK, disclosed a veteran UK based British Kashmiri philanthropist Chaudhry Akhter Kashmir Wala, while addressing the inaugural ceremony of the project hosted by the KORT here on Monday.
AJK minister for Housing and Physical Planning Ch. Yasir Sultan inaugurated the gigantic project by distributing keys of the newly constructed residential houses among the homeless widows in Kotli and Bhimbher districts besides other parts of AJK.
The KORT founder chief Ch. Akhter Kashmir Wala said that forthcoming Rs. 200 million phase-4 of the grand project involves 100 residential houses exclusively for homeless widows in various parts of AJK to be launched next month
Expressing his gratitude to the donors for their generous support, the KORT Chairman said that 09 more homes have been built in and handed over to deserving widows in Koti and Bhimber. “With the completion of the phase III, we are glade to mark the completion of the the project that provided 82 houses across the AJK”.
He said that generous contribution of the donors both at home and most particularly in UK, was transforming lives giving the most deserving families of shelterless widows in AJK a fresh start.
Earlier in their address of welcome the Chairman KORT Ch. Akhter Kashmir Wala and the Country Director KORT Sardar Sajid Dilawer thanked the chief guest Ch. Yasir Sultan Minister PPH, Justice (R) Azam Khan, Former CJ AJK, Usman Khalid Mayor of Mirpur, Ramzan Chughtai Deputy Mayo, Dr. Habib ur Rehman Former VC MUST, Aamir Nawabi Additional SP Mirpur, Malik Nisaar Assistant Director Social welfare, Ch Zaheer, Former Chairman BISE Mirpur, Naheed Mughal, Members of Governing Body of KORT Muhammad Shakeel Station Director (Retd) AK Radio Mirpur, Ch. Muhammad Haneef Ex Chairman MDA, Prof Imtiaz,Butt of MUST Varsity, Syed Abid Hussain Shah President Kashmir Press Club, Mirpur, Altaf Hamid Rao, Founding member of the Governing Body of KORT and Ex President Kashmir Press Club Mirpur-AJK, Wajahat Baig President Private Schools and Colleges Association for gracing the Key Distribution Ceremony through their presence.
Ch. Akhter continued that the KORT was going very soon to launch construction work of 100 more houses for widows across AJK besides the construction of 500- bed state of the art hospital in Mirpur AJK for delivery of free quality medical treatment to the deserving class belonging to poor and down trodden hailing from all three districts of Mirpur division, he concluded.
