Russia has reaffirmed its commitment to playing a mediation role in efforts to resolve the ongoing Middle East conflict, with officials confirming that diplomatic contacts and initiatives are already underway to ease tensions across the region.
Russian Ambassador-at-Large Vladimir Safronkov stated that Russia is maintaining nearly daily contacts with all parties involved, stressing that military solutions lead only to further crises and instability rather than lasting peace. He emphasized that Moscow is not only expressing readiness to mediate but is already taking practical steps to support a political settlement process.
Safronkov also praised the diplomatic efforts of Türkiye, Egypt, and Pakistan for their continued mediation and dialogue initiatives aimed at reducing tensions and promoting negotiations. He noted that Russia actively supports these efforts and believes coordinated international mediation is essential for regional stability.
The Russian diplomat warned that continued hostilities in the Persian Gulf are having a negative impact on broader Middle East stability, including the situation in Gaza and the wider peace process. He added that preparations for a potential Russian-Arab summit are under discussion, describing such a meeting as highly relevant for advancing dialogue and cooperation.
Safronkov further stressed that international peace initiatives, including diplomatic agreements and ceasefire efforts, must focus on unity and cooperation rather than forming alliances that could deepen confrontation. He underscored that only political dialogue, mutual security arrangements, and inclusive regional cooperation can ensure long-term peace and stability in the Middle East.
