MOSCOW: Russia has welcomed the efforts of the joint Arab League and Organization of Islamic Cooperation (OIC) summit held in Saudi Arabia on Monday, focused on ending the ongoing violence in Gaza and Lebanon.
The Russian Foreign Ministry issued a statement affirming that the summit’s position aligns with Moscow’s stance on resolving conflicts through diplomatic means. “We highly appreciate the commitment of regional states to play a leading role in ending violence and stabilizing the situation in the Middle East,” the ministry said.
Russia expressed its readiness to work with Arab, Muslim, and other like-minded partners to foster de-escalation and seek a comprehensive political settlement within the internationally recognized framework.
The Riyadh summit called for an immediate cease-fire in Gaza and Lebanon, the implementation of relevant UN resolutions, and the provision of humanitarian aid. The declaration also emphasized the Palestinian people’s right to establish their own state as part of a broader peace process.
