Vladivostok, October 21 – Russia’s Foreign Intelligence Service (SVR) Director, Sergei Naryshkin, has accused NATO of accelerating military preparations for an armed confrontation with Russia.
In a statement published on the SVR’s official website, Naryshkin said that “European members of NATO are actively preparing for a war with our country,” adding that the alliance is working to equip its Allied Response Force with all necessary resources in a short timeframe.
Speaking at a meeting of the Commonwealth of Independent States (CIS) in Samarkand, Uzbekistan, Naryshkin claimed that several European countries are expanding defense industries, conducting mobilization exercises, and promoting what he described as “propaganda” portraying Russia as a security threat.
He further accused France and Germany of encouraging “Russophobia” and lacking a long-term vision for ensuring peace and stability on the European continent.
Naryshkin concluded that NATO’s current policies pose serious risks to regional and global security.
