Doha, December 2 (QNA) – The Shura Council held its regular session on Monday, presided over by HE Speaker Hassan bin Abdullah Al Ghanim in the Tamim bin Hamad Hall.
At the session’s outset, the Council commended HH the Amir Sheikh Tamim bin Hamad Al-Thani for his participation in the 45th GCC Summit in Kuwait, praising the summit’s outcomes in strengthening Gulf unity and fostering integration among GCC nations.
The Council welcomed the ceasefire agreement in Lebanon, expressing hope it would alleviate suffering and restore stability. It called for broader efforts to halt the Israeli aggression on Gaza and the West Bank, emphasizing the importance of achieving a just and comprehensive peace that aligns with Arab aspirations. The Council reiterated Qatar’s commitment to regional peace, stability, and support for peaceful resolutions to protect people’s rights.
HE Secretary-General Nayef bin Mohammed Al Mahmoud presented the session’s agenda, where members approved the minutes of the previous meeting. The Council endorsed the draft state budget for the fiscal year 2025 and referred it to the government after reviewing the Economic and Financial Affairs Committee’s report.
Additionally, the Council discussed amendments to the Civil Human Resources Law No. 15 of 2016, referring the bill to the Social Affairs, Labor, and Housing Committee for further review. It also approved amendments to Law No. 16 of 2018 on non-Qataris’ property ownership and usufruct, referring the decision to the government following discussions led by the Health, General Services, and Environment Committee.
