Speech Contest Highlights “My Story with China” as China–Qatar Relations Grow Stronger

Doha, October 15, 2025 – A speech contest titled “My Story with China and Qatar” was held in Doha, providing a lively platform for employees of Chinese companies in Qatar to share their personal stories of culture, work, and friendship between the two countries. The event came as China and Qatar continue to build closer ties in energy, infrastructure, finance, education, and culture.

Organized by the Chinese Chamber of Commerce in Qatar, the contest included participants of different nationalities working in Chinese-funded companies. Speeches were delivered in three languages: Chinese, Arabic, and English, showing the event’s inclusive and multicultural spirit. The speakers shared stories of teamwork on major projects, technological innovation, and cultural celebrations, all showing the deep friendship between the peoples of China and Qatar.

The winners of the contest were:

Arabic category: Elie Abou Touma, ICBC Doha (QFC) Branch

English category: Sarra Chouk, Huawei Qatar

Chinese category: Dong Bo, ICBC Doha (QFC) Branch

The contest was a celebration of friendship and cooperation, helping to build unity among Chinese company employees in Qatar and encouraging stronger understanding between the two nations.

In his keynote speech, H.E. Cao Xiaolin, Ambassador of the People’s Republic of China to the State of Qatar, congratulated the organizers and participants for the successful event. “This competition is meaningful and inspiring,” he said. “The stories shared today show the strong efforts of Chinese company employees in Qatar to build friendship between our two nations.”

The Ambassador said that the friendship between China and the Arab world has a long history, going back more than a thousand years to the ancient Silk Road. He recalled the First China–Arab States Summit held in Riyadh in December 2022, where President Xi Jinping and Arab leaders agreed to strengthen cooperation and build a China–Arab community with a shared future.

He mentioned five main areas of continued cooperation: mutual support, economic growth, peace and security, cultural exchange, and global development. The Ambassador also reaffirmed China’s firm support for the just cause of the Palestinian people and encouraged Arab countries to join China’s Global Development, Security, and Civilization Initiatives to promote shared prosperity and cultural dialogue.

Speaking about relations between China and Qatar, Ambassador Cao said that under the leadership of President Xi Jinping and His Highness Sheikh Tamim bin Hamad Al Thani, the partnership has reached new heights. Both countries have achieved strong economic growth and lasting stability, setting a good example of cooperation between nations with different systems.

He added that China remains Qatar’s largest trading partner and export destination, with growing cooperation in energy, infrastructure, finance, aviation, automotive industries, and education. The Ambassador praised Chinese professionals and companies for their contributions to development and friendship, saying, “Each drop of your effort gathers into a long river of friendship. Let us continue to write new and beautiful chapters of the story of China–Qatar friendship.”
