COLOMBO, Nov. – Sri Lanka’s export earnings reached 14.43 billion U.S. dollars in the first ten months of 2025, marking a 6 percent increase compared to the same period last year, the Export Development Board (EDB) reported on Tuesday.
This is the first time that January–October exports have surpassed the 14 billion dollar mark. Coconut-based products also achieved a milestone, generating over 1 billion dollars during the first ten months of the year—the first such record in Sri Lanka’s history.
EDB Chairman and CEO Mangala Wijesinghe described the achievement as the highest export value ever recorded for the January–October period. He attributed the growth to the steady recovery of major Western markets and the consistent production capacity of local industries.
Wijesinghe added that the country has already reached 80 percent of its annual export target of 18 billion dollars, reflecting a strong performance and promising momentum for the remaining months of 2025.
The record exports signal Sri Lanka’s steady economic recovery and highlight the resilience of its export sectors in maintaining growth amid global market challenges.
