LONDON, Aug. 14– British Prime Minister Keir Starmer met Ukrainian President Volodymyr Zelensky on Thursday at Downing Street to discuss key developments ahead of the upcoming U.S.-Russia summit in Alaska.
The leaders reviewed Wednesday’s virtual meetings hosted by German Chancellor Friedrich Merz and exchanged views on the expected outcomes of Friday’s Trump-Putin talks. According to an official statement, Starmer and Zelensky agreed to remain in close contact in the coming days to coordinate their positions and share insights.
Zelensky highlighted the importance of exploring security guarantees for Ukraine that could support a lasting peace if a ceasefire is reached. The discussion also focused on strategies to strengthen international coordination and ensure that diplomatic efforts advance Ukraine’s interests effectively.
