MIRPUR (AJK), February 22 – The Inland Revenue Department (IRD) of the Government of Azad Jammu & Kashmir (AJK) achieved a major milestone with the launch of the AJK Tax Asaan Mobile App and the Business Intelligence (BI) Revenue Collection / IT Dashboard in a historic ceremony held at Golden Movements Marquee, Industrial Area, Mirpur.
The event was graced by the Minister for Inland Revenue & Finance, Mr. Chaudhry Qasim Majeed, who formally inaugurated the new digital systems by pressing a digital activation button, followed by the unveiling of a commemorative plaque. The ceremony was attended by senior IRD officials, including Commissioners Basil Siddique and Syed Anser Ali, Secretary Inland Revenue Chaudhry Abdul Rehman, as well as business leaders, civil society members, and representatives of the Mirpur Chamber of Commerce & Industry.
The Tax Asaan Mobile App provides taxpayers with a secure, user-friendly platform to verify POS invoices in real time, view registration details, access return-related information, make online tax payments, track case status, and manage other IRIS system services directly from mobile devices. This initiative aims to enhance transparency and ensure effective communication between taxpayers and the Department, while significantly reducing paperwork and administrative delays.
The BI Revenue Collection / IT Dashboard offers authorities a comprehensive, data-driven platform for monitoring and analyzing revenue collection in real time. The system allows performance review by tax type, sector, and annually, strengthening policy formulation, financial management, and evidence-based decision-making, and enabling strategic planning for sustainable revenue growth.
During the ceremony, the mobile app’s features were demonstrated live and received wide appreciation. President Mirpur Chamber of Commerce & Industry, Umar Shehzad Jarral, praised the Department’s digital reforms as a positive step for the business community, assuring full cooperation. Speakers highlighted ongoing digitization, expansion of the tax net, revenue enhancement, and promotion of transparency and good governance.
In his keynote, Minister Chaudhry Qasim Majeed described the launch as a revolutionary step towards modern digital governance in AJK, reaffirming the government’s commitment to a transparent, facilitative, and internationally aligned tax system. The event concluded with an Iftar dinner and discussions on digital reforms, revenue system improvements, and strengthened cooperation with the business community.
According to the IRD, these initiatives mark a historic milestone toward complete digitization, modern financial governance, and a future-ready revenue system in Azad Jammu & Kashmir, setting a benchmark for other provincial departments and demonstrating the State’s readiness to embrace advanced technology-driven public service solutions.
