Doha, Qatar – March 29, 2025 – The 13th Traffic Awareness and Ramadan Iftar Drive (TARID) was successfully held on March 29, 2025, continuing its legacy of community service and road safety advocacy. Originally inspired by the Qatar Living Volunteers group in 2010, the initiative has been organized by Mildred B. Ngoaban-Lloren since 2011. After a brief pause in 2020 and 2021 due to public health restrictions, TARID returned with renewed commitment.
Al Jaber Opticians, a leading optical company in Qatar, proudly sponsored the event, ensuring its success. The company, known for its premium vision care services and eyewear collections, partnered with various expatriate organizations to distribute 3,850 Iftar packs to motorists at key traffic junctions, including Toyota, Ramada, and Bin Omran Signals.
A total of 305 volunteers from diverse nationalities—Philippines, Bangladesh, Nepal, Pakistan, Sri Lanka, and India—joined hands to facilitate the event. TARID aimed to promote safe driving habits, prevent road accidents, and provide Iftar meals to motorists, especially those fasting during Ramadan.
Mohammad Munjural Hasan, one of the volunteers, shared his experience: “Being part of this initiative was humbling and fulfilling. Witnessing the gratitude of the recipients made the efforts of our volunteers truly rewarding.”
The event concluded with a Volunteer Thanksgiving Dinner, celebrating the dedication of all participants. Organizer Mildred B. Ngoaban-Lloren emphasized, “This event reflects the generosity of our host country and the unity among its diverse residents.”
Al Jaber Opticians and the Al Jaber family extended their heartfelt appreciation to all volunteers, including members of the Supreme Elite Eagles Club (SEEC), GUARDIANS Legion Qatar (GLQ), STONE GUARDIANS Brotherhood Inc. (SGBI), and Qatar Volunteers (QV), for their support in making the event a success.
May the spirit of Ramadan continue to inspire community advocacy and social responsibility, fostering unity and kindness across Qatar.
