Doha, Qatar — November 14, 2024

In response to the call for the Istisqa (rain-seeking) prayer issued by His Highness the Amir Sheikh

Tamim bin Hamad Al-Thani, The Next Generation School (TNG) proudly participated in this important

act of worship across all its campuses. The prayer was reverently performed by students, staff, and faculty

at TNG Ain Khalid, TNG Al Daayen, and TNG Wakra Primary & Secondary. In addition, EYFS students

across the campuses were educated about the meaning and significance of the Istisqa prayer, fostering an

early understanding of its importance and the values of faith and unity that it represents. This act of

worship reflects the deep faith and unity that bind the TNG community, as well as the school’s

commitment to nurturing both academic excellence and spiritual growth in its students.

At TNG Ain Khalid, the prayer was led by Muhammad Umar Mohsin Wasim, a Year 5 student, House

Captain, and member of the Student Council. His leadership in guiding his peers during the prayer

demonstrated the values of responsibility, commitment, and unity that are central to TNG’s mission. The

sincere and heartfelt performance of the Istisqa prayer by students from various grade levels served as a

reminder of the importance of faith in times of need and the power of collective supplication.

Similarly, at TNG Al Daayen, the prayer was led by Mr. Jawed, the school’s Islamic Studies teacher, who

delivered the Khutba (sermon) and Dua  (supplication), guiding the students in this meaningful spiritual

practice. The act of performing the Istisqa prayer across all TNG campuses united the school community

in heartfelt supplication, as students and staff alike turned to Allah with hope and trust in His mercy.

At TNG Wakra Primary and Secondary, Mr. Muaaz, Head of the Islamic & Quran Department, guided

students in understanding the Sunnah of the Prophet Muhammad (SAW) in performing the Istisqa prayer,

emphasizing the importance of seeking Allah’s blessings and mercy. The cool wind that swept across

during the prayer added a sense of tranquility, reminding everyone of the mercy we seek from Allah.

He also concluded with a brief sermon on the significance of Istighfar (seeking forgiveness) and set a

daily target for students to practice reciting Istighfar.

Additionally, at TNG Wakra Secondary, the Salat al-Istisqa was also performed. The prayer was led by

Mr. Moadh Maalem, the Arabic teacher, who thoughtfully guided students through the significance and

purpose of the prayer. To ensure full engagement, the importance of Salat al-Istisqa was explained in

Arabic, English, and Urdu, enabling students to not only participate but also gain a deeper understanding

of the spiritual value of their supplications.

TNG’s mission is to foster an environment that encourages collaboration, independent learning, and

active participation in co-curricular and extracurricular activities. This mission extends to the spiritual

development of its students, where they are guided to embrace Islamic values and practices in their daily

lives. The school’s participation in the Istisqa prayer is an embodiment of this commitment,

demonstrating how TNG integrates faith into its holistic approach to student development.

Aligned with Qatar’s National Vision 2030, which emphasizes sustainable development, social

responsibility, and the nurturing of future leaders, TNG remains dedicated to preparing its students to

meet global challenges while remaining grounded in Islamic principles. Through initiatives such as the

Istisqa prayer, TNG instills in its students a sense of responsibility not only to themselves but also to the

broader community and nation.

As part of the wider national effort, TNG joins the people of Qatar in seeking Allah’s blessings for rain,

praying for His mercy to nourish the land and provide for the needs of the nation.
