As the U.S. transitions to a new administration, President Joe Biden and President-elect Donald Trump offered holiday greetings that reflected their distinct approaches to leadership.

President Biden, in his Christmas message posted on X, acknowledged his final holiday season as president, urging Americans to uphold values of “liberty and love, kindness and compassion, dignity and decency.” He also wished a joyful Hanukkah, stating, “As Hanukkah begins, may it shine from menorahs around the world.”

Meanwhile, Trump took to Truth Social, sharing a video with Melania Trump, praising the nation’s Christian heritage and thanking those who ensure America’s safety. While extending warm Christmas wishes, Trump stirred controversy by addressing topics beyond the festive season. He criticized Canada, claiming high taxes under Prime Minister Justin Trudeau and floated the idea of annexing Canada as the 51st U.S. state, promising reduced taxes and enhanced economic growth.

Trump also revisited past remarks about Greenland, asserting its strategic value to the U.S. and suggesting it “wants the U.S. to be there.” He further criticized Panama, implying U.S. ownership of the Panama Canal might be necessary unless toll fees for American ships are lowered.

These holiday messages underline the contrasting visions of the outgoing and incoming administrations, with Biden focusing on unity and tradition while Trump interweaved political commentary with holiday cheer.
