Former U.S. President Donald Trump has delivered a sharp rebuke to both Israel and Iran, accusing them of breaching a ceasefire he claims to have brokered. Speaking to reporters as he departed the White House for The Hague, Trump expressed deep frustration over renewed hostilities in the region.
“I’ve got to get Israel to calm down now,” he said. “As soon as we made the deal, they came out and dropped a load of bombs the biggest I’ve ever seen.” Trump noted that both nations are stuck in a cycle of violence. “They’ve been at this so long, they no longer understand what they’re even fighting for,” he added, warning that the ongoing aggression threatens broader diplomatic progress and regional stability.
In Tehran, Iranian officials announced the start of reconstruction efforts following twelve days of Israeli airstrikes. Government spokesperson Fatemeh Mohajerani said that residential areas, research institutes, and healthcare facilities were among the sites damaged. “We are facing a major task in terms of rebuilding infrastructure and restoring essential services,” she told state media, confirming that a full assessment is underway.
In a related development, NATO Secretary General Mark Rutte praised Trump for his leadership during the crisis. In a message shared by Trump on Truth Social, Rutte congratulated him for taking “decisive action in Iran” and securing a landmark agreement from all NATO allies to allocate at least 5% of GDP to defense spending calling it “truly extraordinary” and a step that “no one else dared to do.”
As tensions remain high in the Middle East, global attention is fixed on efforts to de-escalate and return to the negotiating table.
