WASHINGTON, April 13, U.S. President Donald Trump is in “excellent cognitive and physical health,” according to a memo issued by White House physician Captain Sean Barbabella following a comprehensive annual medical exam at Walter Reed Medical Center.
The nearly five-hour physical—the first of Trump’s second term—included bloodwork, ultrasounds, and neurological and cardiac evaluations. Dr. Barbabella reported “robust cardiac, pulmonary, neurological, and general physical function,” affirming that the 78-year-old president remains fully fit to carry out his official duties.
The report noted that Trump scored a perfect 30/30 on the Montreal Cognitive Assessment (MoCA), a screening tool used to detect signs of dementia. He also passed a series of neurological tests evaluating mental status, reflexes, and motor and sensory function.
Trump’s health was credited to an active lifestyle, including frequent golf games, and he maintains a full range of joint and muscle motion. He now weighs 224 pounds (101 kg) at a height of 6 ft 2.5 in, placing him in the “overweight” but not “obese” category.
The report also referenced “scarring on the right ear from a gunshot wound,” sustained during an assassination attempt at a campaign rally in Butler, Pennsylvania, in July 2024. Former White House doctor Ronny Jackson had earlier described the injury as superficial.
Additional notes include a medical history of well-controlled high cholesterol, past COVID-19 infection, rosacea, and a benign colon polyp. Trump takes Rosuvastatin, Ezetimibe, low-dose Aspirin, and a topical cream for a skin condition.
This is the first full health report released since last year’s assassination attempt. Trump has often emphasized his physical and mental fitness during campaign appearances, drawing contrasts with his former opponent, Joe Biden.
