Washington, August 4 – U.S. President Donald Trump confirmed Sunday that two nuclear submarines have reached their intended locations, just two days after he ordered their deployment in response to rising tensions with Russia.
“They are in the region… where they have to be,” Trump told reporters, without disclosing the exact location. His remarks came after he announced on Truth Social Friday that he had instructed the deployment of the submarines to what he called “appropriate regions.”
The move followed Trump’s sharp exchange with Dmitry Medvedev, Russia’s former president and current deputy chair of the Security Council. Last week, Trump shortened the timeline he had previously given Moscow to end the war in Ukraine — cutting it from 50 days to just 10–12 days, citing Russia’s unwillingness to compromise.
Medvedev responded strongly, accusing Trump of playing an “ultimatum game” with Moscow and warning that such actions bring the U.S. closer to war. “This is a step towards war… with his own country,” Medvedev said.
Trump, who is campaigning for a return to the White House, has made Ukraine-Russia policy a central issue, often clashing with both Russian officials and critics at home over his confrontational and unpredictable approach.
