ANKARA, March 24 — US President Donald Trump has raised doubts about the official account of President John F. Kennedy’s assassination, suggesting that Lee Harvey Oswald did not act alone.
In an interview with radio host Clay Travis, Trump was asked whether Oswald killed JFK on his own. He replied, “I do, and I always felt that. Of course, he was helped.”
The remarks come after the recent release of declassified files related to the assassination. Trump dismissed the documents as “somewhat unspectacular,” though he emphasized that individuals could form their own conclusions.
The FBI and Justice Department have long maintained that Oswald was the sole assassin, though conspiracy theories about his involvement have persisted for decades. Oswald denied the charges and was killed two days after the assassination by nightclub owner Jack Ruby.
The newly released files, containing about 80,000 pages of documents, do not conclusively confirm any conspiracy but have reignited public debate over the events of November 22, 1963, when Kennedy was shot in Dallas, Texas.
The Trump administration’s release was intended to provide transparency, but many historians believe it will not lead to any major breakthroughs regarding the case.
While the files offer more information, they have not silenced the long-standing public skepticism surrounding Kennedy’s assassination, a tragedy that remains a pivotal moment in American history.
