Former U.S. President Donald Trump has renewed his criticism of mainstream media, accusing major television networks of biased reporting and suggesting their broadcast licenses be revoked.
In posts shared on Truth Social, Trump claimed ABC and NBC provide overwhelmingly negative coverage of his presidency. “ABC & NBC FAKE NEWS, two of the most biased networks in history, give me 97% bad stories,” he wrote, describing the outlets as “an arm of the Democrat Party.”
Trump urged the Federal Communications Commission (FCC) to act, calling the alleged bias “an actual threat to our democracy.” He added, “I would be totally in favor of that because they are so biased and untruthful.”
The former president also implied that these networks have failed to pay appropriate license fees, suggesting they owe “millions of dollars” for using U.S. airwaves. “They should lose their licenses for unfair coverage of Republicans and Conservatives, or at least pay up big,” he asserted, labeling them “crooked” and urging they be “terminated.”
Trump’s comments underscore his longstanding conflict with mainstream media, which he frequently accuses of spreading “fake news.” The remarks come as he seeks to maintain influence within the Republican Party ahead of the 2024 election cycle.
