Doha – The Turkish Embassy in Qatar hosted its annual Iftar dinner for media representatives on March 10, reaffirming its commitment to fostering unity, goodwill, and strengthening ties with the press.
Welcoming esteemed journalists and guests, Turkish Ambassador Dr. M. Mustafa Göksu highlighted the significance of this annual Ramadan gathering as a reflection of the values of love and fraternity. He noted that the blessed month of Ramadan serves as an opportunity to reinforce solidarity and communication, bringing people together through shared values of mercy and generosity.
Dr. Göksu acknowledged the pivotal role of media professionals in conveying the truth with objectivity and professionalism, especially amid global challenges facing journalism. He emphasized that journalists serve as the guardians of truth, playing a crucial role in bridging nations and fostering cultural and human connections. He commended Qatari and international media operating in Qatar for their responsible coverage, which upholds the principles of integrity and transparency.
The ambassador also drew attention to the immense challenges affecting the region, particularly the ongoing tragedies in Palestine and Syria. He paid tribute to journalists who have lost their lives in conflict zones, especially in Gaza, acknowledging their sacrifices in the pursuit of truth. He reiterated the importance of holding accountable those who seek to silence the voice of truth and emphasized the need for collective efforts to promote justice and stability.
Despite these challenges, Dr. Göksu expressed hope that the spirit of Ramadan would continue to inspire unity and resilience. He called for intensified efforts to build a secure and prosperous future for all.
The event, supported by the Nebras platform, brought together senior journalists, editors, and media representatives from prominent Qatari organizations. Dr. Göksu expressed gratitude to Nebras for its sponsorship and thanked all attendees for their presence. He concluded by extending his best wishes for a blessed Ramadan filled with peace, cooperation, and shared prosperity
