ISTANBUL: Türkiye emphasized the importance of fully implementing all phases of the Gaza cease-fire deal between Hamas and Israel. In a statement released on Wednesday, the Turkish Foreign Ministry expressed that achieving a permanent cease-fire and ensuring the urgent delivery of humanitarian aid to Gaza were essential steps forward.
The Ministry also acknowledged the efforts of mediating countries, particularly Qatar and Egypt, in facilitating the agreement. It called on the international community to hold Israel accountable for its responsibilities concerning the deal.
The statement underlined that long-term peace and stability in the Middle East are dependent on securing peace in Palestine and addressing the ongoing injustice faced by the Palestinian people. Türkiye reiterated its position on the necessity of resuming peace talks promptly to establish an independent and sovereign Palestinian state along the 1967 borders, with East Jerusalem as its capital.
Furthermore, Türkiye reaffirmed its continued support for the Palestinian people in the coming period, emphasizing the country’s dedication to achieving a just resolution for Palestine.
The cease-fire agreement, which was mediated successfully by Qatar and other nations, is set to begin implementation on Sunday, as confirmed by Qatari Prime Minister Sheikh Mohammed bin Abdulrahman.
