UDC Hosts Community Sports and Activities to Celebrate National Sport Day at The Pearl and Gewan Islands

Doha, Qatar – 10 February 2026: United Development Company (UDC), the master developer of The Pearl and Gewan Islands, celebrated Qatar’s National Sport Day 2026 by organizing a full-day community sports and wellness program across both destinations. The event brought together partner entities, employees, residents, and visitors of all ages to promote active living, wellbeing, and community engagement.
The program was conducted in collaboration with the General Retirement and Social Insurance Authority (Daman) and sponsored by Ooredoo, serving as the exclusive telecommunications partner. UDC’s subsidiaries and affiliates, including Qatar District Cooling Company (Qatar Cool) represented by CEO Mr. Nahar Al Mutawah, Ronautica Middle East, Hospitality Development Company, The Pearl International Hospital, and Corinthia, also participated, highlighting strong institutional collaboration in support of national, community-focused initiatives.
From 8:00 am to 8:00 pm, waterfronts and public spaces at The Pearl and Gewan Islands were transformed into vibrant hubs for movement, interaction, and recreational activities. Families and individuals engaged in a wide array of activities, reflecting the growing tradition of National Sport Day participation. Key locations included Porto Arabia and Qanat Quartier, as well as Temba Arena sports courts at The Pearl Island and Crystal Walk at Gewan Island. The program featured a walkathon, fitness sessions, team challenges, and children’s activity stations designed to encourage all age groups to embrace sport as a regular lifestyle choice.
H.E. Mr. Ahmed Ali Al Hammadi, Director General of Daman and UDC Chairman, commented: “The significance of these activities lies in their inclusive spirit, bringing institutions, families, and individuals together around a shared goal of health and wellbeing. Such initiatives embody the essence of National Sport Day and reaffirm that sport is a way of life accessible to everyone.”
