United Development Company Concludes the Week with Record Participation and Collective Efforts Reflecting Its Commitment to Sustainability and Environmental Protection
Doha, Qatar – November 9, 2025: United Development Company (UDC) concluded Qatar Sustainability Week 2025 with record community participation and a wide range of impactful environmental and social initiatives across The Pearl and Gewan Islands, reaffirming its leadership in sustainability and alignment with the Qatar National Vision 2030.
This year’s edition witnessed unprecedented engagement from residents, partners, and volunteers, making it one of UDC’s most successful sustainability programs to date. The week featured marine, environmental, and community-focused activities designed to promote awareness, waste reduction, and responsible citizenship among all age groups.
A key highlight was the largest seabed cleanup campaign in the region, reflecting UDC’s long-standing commitment to marine preservation and natural resource protection. More than 250 volunteer divers from local communities, supported by professional diving centers and environmental organizations, took part in the initiative. The campaign resulted in the recovery of 843 kilograms of recyclable marine waste, demonstrating the growing culture of volunteerism and eco-consciousness within UDC’s communities.
Since its launch in 2019, the seabed cleanup initiative has contributed to a consistent decline in underwater waste, proving its sustained effectiveness in protecting Qatar’s marine ecosystems and inspiring collective environmental responsibility among residents.
Alongside this, UDC’s Plastic Recycling Initiative achieved notable results by collecting 1,500 kilograms of recyclable plastic, reinforcing the principles of a circular economy and supporting national efforts to reduce plastic pollution and preserve natural habitats.
The Company also collaborated with Hamad Medical Corporation to organize a blood donation campaign, which saw a record turnout. Participation doubled compared to last year, underscoring the growing spirit of social commitment and solidarity among residents of The Pearl and Gewan Islands.
In partnership with the Ministry of Environment and Climate Change, UDC conducted a series of awareness programs on Gewan Island, encouraging sustainable lifestyles and positive environmental behavior. Educational activities, workshops, and community dialogues promoted responsible consumption and everyday sustainability practices.
Concluding the week’s events, UDC reaffirmed its unwavering commitment to sustainable urban development, environmental stewardship, and community well-being. “Every effort during Sustainability Week represents a meaningful step toward a future where people, place, and planet coexist in harmony,” the Company stated.
Established in 1999 and listed on the Qatar Stock Exchange in 2003, UDC is one of Qatar’s leading public shareholding companies, with an authorized share capital of QAR 3.5 billion and total assets of QAR 18.5 billion as of September 30, 2025. The Company’s diversified operations span real estate development, property management, infrastructure, utilities, district cooling, marine services, and hospitality.
Through initiatives like Sustainability Week, UDC continues to translate its environmental vision into tangible action, transforming The Pearl and Gewan Islands into living examples of innovation, sustainability, and community-driven progress in Qatar.
