Web desk. Moscow, June 6 – A fire erupted at an oil refinery in Novoshakhtinsk, Rostov province, due to a Ukrainian drone attack on Wednesday night. The fire spread to an area of 50 square meters, as reported by Rostov Governor Vasily Golubev on Telegram. Firefighting teams swiftly responded to the scene.
Golubev confirmed there were no injuries but noted that efforts to extinguish the fire were temporarily halted due to a second drone strike. The fire was completely extinguished several hours later.
In recent weeks, Ukraine has intensified its focus on targeting Russian oil platforms and infrastructure via drones, causing disruptions to the activities of several fields and companies. This latest attack is part of a broader strategy aimed at hindering Russian oil production and operations. Authorities are investigating the incident and assessing the extent of the damage caused by the drone attacks.
