US President announces European leaders’ visits to negotiate end of Russia-Ukraine war

New York, September 08 (QNA) – US President Donald Trump revealed on Sunday that European leaders will visit the United States on Monday and Tuesday to discuss ways to end the Russia-Ukraine war.
Speaking to reporters in New York City, Trump also said he would speak to Russian President Vladimir Putin soon.
“Certain European leaders are coming over to our country on Monday or Tuesday individually,” said Trump. It was unclear which leaders Trump was referring to.
Earlier, US Treasury Secretary Scott Bessent confirmed that Washington is prepared to intensify pressure on Russia, calling on Europe to also take action to force Moscow to the negotiating table.
These statements came after Russia attacked Ukraine overnight with the largest wave of drones and missiles.
Bessent said Trump and Vice President JD Vance had a very constructive call with President of the European Commission Ursula von der Leyen, whom he also spoke to.
The US Treasury Secretary added that discussions were held about what the EU and the US can do together, including preparation to increase pressure on Russia.
Bessent believes that if the US and EU imposed further sanctions and secondary tariffs on countries that purchase Russian oil, the Russian economy will collapse completely. This will force the Russian president to the negotiating table.
