Uzbek Foreign Minister meets New SCO RATS Director

TASHKENT, January 23: Uzbekistan’s Minister of Foreign Affairs, Bakhtiyor Saidov, met with Ularbek Sharsheev, the newly appointed Director of the Shanghai Cooperation Organization’s Regional Anti-Terrorist Structure (SCO RATS) Executive Committee.
In a statement on his official channel, Minister Saidov emphasized the importance of collaboration for security and stability. “Today, the topics of security, stability, and continuous development are as critical as ever. We are committed to actively cooperating with our partners to ensure common prosperity,” he remarked.
Ularbek Sharsheev, a 49-year-old Major General from Kyrgyzstan, assumed the position on January 1, 2025, succeeding Uzbekistan’s Ruslan Mirzaev. Based in Tashkent, Sharsheev will lead SCO RATS for a three-year term, focusing on regional security and anti-terrorism efforts.
The meeting explored effective strategies to address regional challenges and strengthen cooperation within the SCO framework.
