TASHKENT, Dec. 30 (2025) — Uzbekistan closed 2025 on a strong note, reporting multiple economic and infrastructure gains that highlight the country’s expanding role in regional development and global engagement.
The government announced a significant increase in tourist arrivals this year, with visitors from nearly 200 countries exploring Uzbekistan’s cultural heritage and historical sites, according to official tourism statistics.
Energy infrastructure strengthened in 2025 as Russia increased gas supplies to Uzbekistan by around 20 percent, ensuring stable fuel availability and supporting industrial activity across the country.
Economic data show that investment and energy projects expanded rapidly, contributing to growth in sectors including transport, infrastructure, and trade.
Domestic travel demand also surged, with airline ticket sales rising by more than 20 percent as more Uzbeks and foreign visitors traveled across the country or abroad.
On the diplomatic front, Uzbekistan continues to deepen regional ties. Azerbaijan and Uzbekistan officials discussed cooperation on shared priorities, while the Foreign Ministry confirmed expanding bilateral engagement.
Additionally, official confirmation came that President Shavkat Mirziyoyev will visit Pakistan in February 2026, further advancing political and economic relations between the two nations.
As 2025 draws to a close, Uzbekistan’s combination of tourism growth, energy cooperation, and strengthened foreign relations underscores its rising role in Central Asia’s economic and diplomatic landscape.
