MIRPUR (AJK): March 28 – APHC leader and Chairman of the Kashmir Institute of International Relations, Altaf Hussain Wani, has urged the Kashmiri diaspora to intensify efforts in raising awareness among local communities and civil society organizations about the Kashmir cause.
He made the appeal while addressing an overseas Kashmiri community gathering in Barcelona, Spain, last Saturday, hosted by the Tahreek-e-Kashmir Spain chapter. Wani emphasized the historic and humanitarian significance of the struggle, urging community members to serve as ambassadors for truth and justice in their host countries.
The event, presided over by Muhammad Shafiq Tamsum, President of Tahreek Kashmir Spain, brought together members of the Kashmiri diaspora and local civil society to discuss the deteriorating human rights situation in Indian-occupied Kashmir.
Wani and Tamsum strongly condemned the Indian judicial system for its systematic criminalization of political dissent, specifically denouncing the life imprisonment sentence given to Ms. Asiya Andrabi and her associates, noting that these convictions were based solely on their political views and legitimate demands for rights recognized in UN Security Council resolutions regarding Kashmir.
Speakers expressed deep concern over escalating violence by Indian state forces, highlighting widespread human rights violations and the misuse of anti-terrorism laws to suppress political expression and detain activists without due process.
Muhammad Shafiq Tamsum reaffirmed Tahreek Kashmir Spain’s commitment to raising international awareness about the plight of Kashmiris and pledged continued advocacy for a peaceful resolution of the dispute, in line with UN resolutions and the aspirations of the Kashmiri people.
