BEIJING, July 10, Chinese President Xi Jinping has called for building a global network to foster dialogue and cooperation among civilizations. In a congratulatory letter to the Global Civilizations Dialogue Ministerial Meeting, which opened Thursday in Beijing, Xi emphasized China’s commitment to promoting mutual understanding and peaceful coexistence worldwide.
Xi, also General Secretary of the Communist Party of China (CPC) Central Committee, said China is ready to work with all nations to implement the Global Civilization Initiative. This initiative aims to strengthen equality, mutual learning, inclusiveness, and dialogue between civilizations to advance human progress and global peace.
“The world is, by nature, a place of diverse civilizations,” Xi stated, highlighting that history has proven the importance of exchanges and learning for civilizational and human advancement. Amid growing global uncertainties, he stressed the urgent need to overcome estrangement through communication and prevent conflict through mutual respect and learning.
Xi expressed hope that participants of the forum would engage in meaningful discussions, build consensus, and contribute ideas and efforts toward fostering understanding and friendship among peoples and realizing a harmonious global community.
Themed “Safeguarding Diversity of Human Civilizations for World Peace and Development,” the two-day forum is co-hosted by the Publicity Department and the International Department of the CPC Central Committee. It brings together global representatives to deepen inter-civilizational dialogue at a time when cooperation is vital to global stability and development.
