MIRPUR (AJK): January 21: The ailing Chairman of the Jammu Kashmir Liberation Front (Y) (JKLF), Muhammad Yasin Malik, who has been illegally imprisoned in the Indian notorious Tihar Jail for the past seven years, conveyed a message for Kashmiri people living from across the both the sides of the ceasefire line and abroad, in general, and for his party cadre, in particular, JKLF (Y) formally announced on Wednesday.
The message was passed on through a reliable and trustworthy source last week to his Indian occupied Jammu Kashmir based closest associates Muhammad Rafiq Dar, Saleem Haroon and Syed Altaf Hussain Qadri, says a statement issued by the media wing JKLF here on Wednesday.
In his first-of-its-kind and clear message sent officially from Tihar Jail, Muhammad Yasin Malik addressed his colleagues and said that at the behest of the current central government of India under the leadership of Prime Minister Narendra Modi, the NIA and other intelligence agencies are hell bent upon making me a victim of biased judicial decisions in cases filed against me based on political vendetta. In carrying out this, they are continuing to engage in unfair judicial proceedings using every illegal and immoral tactic, which will most likely result in sentencing me the death penalty.
Jailed Chairman JKLF, Mr. Muhammad Yasin Malik, said in his message that from my arrest on February 22, 2019 to my life imprisonment sentence by a special court in New Delhi on May 25, 2022, and now the ongoing unilateral judicial proceedings under a planned conspiracy for execution are actually to fill in the government’s sketches. Whereas I, before my detailed written statement submitted to the court recently, along with the evidences had already stated the truth of all the baseless allegations leveled against me before the special court and investigative agencies.
Yasin Malik said in the message that I am committed to the promise I have made to my closest friends especially to Ashfaq Majeed Wani and Sheikh Abdul Hamid and that I have neither hesitated in the past, nor have I allowed any wavering now in fulfilling it.
Yasin Malik said that from the peak of my youth to today’s middle age, I have seriously and transparently nurtured the ongoing national freedom movement with sincerity, good intentions and without any personal interest. During this time, in order to erase the stigma of cowardice on the nation and to bring the dust ridden, deliberately ignored and internationally recognized but long pending unresolved issue of Jammu Kashmir to the attention of the international community, I first had to work like a soldier and later, at the persuasion of Indian civil society and the international community, while renouncing militancy, I tread the path of non-violent political means.
To bring about an immediate, peaceful, long-lasting and just resolution of the issue, Yasin Malik said that besides becoming a diplomat, I with the consent of India, Pakistan and international community worked as a negotiator as well. God is my witness that while risking my life I, beyond my ability, played a very constructive and positive role for the success of these negotiations, he added.
Yasin Malik informed that the deep mutual distrust between the parties, extremistic, aggressive and hard-line views, stubbornness and intoxication of power, diplomatic and bureaucratic maneuvering, and unceasing conspiratorial and self-destructive actions from both the sides including the criminal silence and lack of the interest of the international community towards the resolution of the issue along with the Kashmiris’ own disagreements and inappropriate conduct led to the failure of the peace process.
Yasin Malik reiterated his position that for a dignified and just resolution of the Jammu Kashmir issue, it is absolutely necessary to resume serious and result-oriented dialogue process between all parties (India, Pakistan and Kashmiris) so that the state of Jammu Kashmir can play the role of a bridge of friendship in achieving the welfare, development and prosperity of the people of both the countries.
He said in his message that the five thousand year history of the State of Jammu Kashmir stands witness to the fact that the Kashmiri nation does not have any martial background, but it is also a recognized fact that this nation has never accepted the illegal occupation of the State by any external power. However, with deep and utmost hatred against the occupiers Kashmiris continued to resist the foreign occupation in their own local style until their withdrawal.
Yasin Malik, while sending a message to his three close associates (Muhammad Rafiq Dar, Saleem Haroon and Altaf Qadri), said that I am following the path of the martyrs of Jammu Kashmir, including the Father of the Nation, Shaheed Muhammad Maqbool Butt, Shaheed Ashfaq Majeed Wani and Shaheed Sheikh Abdul Hameed, and believes that it is now the responsibility of all freedom-loving comrades, especially all my colleagues associated with the JKLF, to lead this movement full of unprecedented sacrifices, to national liberation.
In his message, he thanked all the friends and comrades for their efforts in becoming the voice of the freedom-loving Kashmiri prisoners, including me. In addition, Yasin Malik also expressed his desire to unite the JKLF in particular.
Honorable media representatives, in this regard, an emergency meeting of the top leadership of the JKLF was held yesterday at the party’s Central Information Office, in which Yasin Malik’s message and the situation of his cases were discussed. In the meeting, the JKLF has demanded the Speaker of the Azad Kashmir Legislative Assembly and the Speaker of the National Assembly of Pakistan to convene a joint session of their respective assemblies so that the issue of Yasin Malik is discussed and a joint forceful resolution is passed. In addition, the JKLF while intensifying its political and diplomatic campaign has decided to immediately send letters to civil society in India and Pakistan, especially the Supreme Court and High Court Bar Associations, as well as to human rights activists.
At the end of the meeting the participants while remembering the martyrs of “Gawkadal Massacre” of 1990 vowed to commemorate the 42nd martyrdom anniversary of shaheed Muhammad Maqbool Butt on 11th Fabruary. The protest rallies, conferences and seminars will be held in and outside the State of Jammu Kashmir wherein the remains of Maqbool Butt and Afzal Guroo will be demanded to India to be returned to Kashmir.
