Houthi Movement in Yemen has said it is closely monitoring developments in the region, particularly in the Strait of Hormuz, and may take what it described as “appropriate action” depending on the evolving situation.
In a statement issued in Sanaa, the group said the United States has placed itself in a strategic predicament and is attempting to expand the conflict by involving other countries in the region. The group called on the international community to increase pressure on the United States and Israel to stop military operations against Iran and to help reduce regional tensions.
According to reports, the Houthis are also considering the possibility of blocking the Bab el-Mandeb Strait to ships belonging to countries they describe as aggressors against members of the so-called “axis of resistance,” including Iran, Lebanon, Palestine, and Iraq.
The statement comes amid rising regional tensions following joint U.S.-Israeli strikes on Iran starting February 28, which triggered retaliatory actions by Iran and its regional allies targeting Israeli and U.S. interests across the Middle East.
