CAIRO, Sept. 2 — Chinese President Xi Jinping on Wednesday called on China and Egypt to strengthen mutual support, deepen cooperation and advance building a China-Egypt community with a shared future.
During talks with Egyptian President Abdel Fattah El-Sisi, Xi said Egypt was the first Arab and African country to establish diplomatic relations with the People’s Republic of China in 1956. He said bilateral ties had developed through decades of friendship, trust, solidarity and mutually beneficial cooperation.
Xi urged both sides to maintain high-level exchanges, align development strategies and expand cooperation in infrastructure, energy, agriculture, communications, green energy, electric vehicles, aerospace, digital economy and agricultural technology.
He also called for stronger exchanges in culture, education, science, technology, health and sports, as well as closer security cooperation against transnational crime and terrorism.
Xi said China and Egypt should enhance coordination through the United Nations, BRICS, China-Arab States Cooperation Forum and Forum on China-Africa Cooperation, while opposing unilateralism and promoting fair global governance.
Sisi welcomed Xi’s visit and reaffirmed Egypt’s commitment to the one-China principle. He said Egypt was ready to deepen cooperation in trade, investment, manufacturing, infrastructure, finance, technology and new energy, while strengthening multilateral coordination
