KYIV, Oct. 20 (Xinhua) — Ukrainian President Volodymyr Zelensky said Tuesday that he had discussed defense cooperation with US Secretary of State Marco Rubio during a phone call.
Zelensky said in a post on X that the talks focused on supplying ballistic missile interceptors, providing early warnings of Russian ballistic missile attacks, and restoring Starlink and Starshield services.
The two officials also discussed diplomatic efforts to end the Russia-Ukraine conflict, Zelensky added.
He thanked Rubio for his “readiness to help and his clear position,” describing their conversation as “substantive” and “constructive.”
According to Zelensky, the two sides agreed to speak again soon to exchange updates.
The phone call followed Zelensky’s Sunday discussions with US President Donald Trump’s envoys, Steve Witkoff and Jared Kushner, regarding the peace process.
