KIEV, Sept. 4 — Ukrainian President Volodymyr Zelensky said Thursday that he expects to meet U.S. President Donald Trump’s envoys in the coming days as efforts continue to seek a resolution to the conflict.
Zelensky said on X that U.S. representatives had confirmed plans to visit both Kiev and Moscow and hold meetings with each side. Tentative dates for the visits have already been set.
The Ukrainian negotiation team is preparing to engage with U.S. representatives “properly and substantively,” Zelensky said, emphasizing the importance of active U.S. involvement.
Last month, Kyrylo Budanov, head of Ukraine’s Presidential Office, said Ukrainian and Russian delegations could meet in September under U.S. mediation for talks aimed at ending the conflict.
Ukraine, the United States and Russia previously held two rounds of talks in Abu Dhabi in January and February, followed by another round in Geneva in February. Negotiations have been suspended since then.
