Qatar Participates in 7th World Media Summit in Beijing
BEIJING, Nov. 5 (QNA) – The State of Qatar is taking part in the 7th World Media Summit, which opened in Beijing under the theme “Media in the Intelligent Age: From Consensus to Action.” The summit brings together leading media organizations and industry figures to discuss the major changes taking place in the global media landscape due to artificial intelligence and emerging technologies.
Qatar is represented at the summit by HE Qatar News Agency (QNA) Director-General Ahmed bin Saeed Al Rumaihi.
Organized by Xinhua News Agency in cooperation with the People’s Government of Beijing Municipality, the five-day event focuses on the future of the media industry amid rapid technological developments. Discussions include the use of artificial intelligence in news production and communication, global media transformation, international cooperation and technological innovation.
In his opening remarks, Xinhua News Agency Vice President Huo Xiaoguang said artificial intelligence is reshaping production, daily life and the ways knowledge is created. He noted that these developments present traditional media with both new opportunities and challenges.
Huo stressed the importance of stronger cooperation among media organizations and expanding the production and distribution of high-quality news content. He also highlighted the need to protect media credibility, strengthen the verification of news and information, and promote joint interviews and innovation.
On the sidelines of the summit, Al Rumaihi met with Huo Xiaoguang to discuss ways to strengthen cooperation between QNA and Xinhua. Their discussions covered the exchange of professional expertise, media and technology cooperation, and opportunities to use artificial intelligence and emerging technologies in news operations.
The summit also witnessed the launch of the world’s first bionic humanoid robot news anchors and a research initiative focusing on mobile phone-based news photography and the verification of media content authenticity.
These developments reflect the growing integration of advanced technologies into news production and the increasing importance of verifying AI-generated images and videos.
