Pakistan’s Federal Minister for Information and Broadcasting, Attaullah Tarar, recently attended the launch of ‘Do Muslim Scare You’, a helpful book on Islamophobia written by famous AlJazeera current affairs expert Osama bin Javed.
The book was inaugurated in cooperation of National University of Modern Languages, Islamabad (NUML) in presence of Rector NUML, Maj Gen (Retd) Shahid Mahmood Kiyani; Pro-Rector Dr. M. Zubair Iqbal; Tv anchor Ghareeda Farooqi; Mosharraf Zaidi; Montasar Marai; Ammar Masood; AlJazeera Digital Editor, Faras Ghani; AlJazeera Sr Producer, Hameedullah Khan; and Osama bin Javed Siddiqui.
The notable speakers on the occasion commended author Osama bin Javed for his timely initiative, which should be emulated.
They emphasised that young people should be cautious of the aggressive propaganda that extremist groups are constantly spreading in an effort to sow division within Muslim society and enmity between Muslims and other societies.
The speakers cautioned the journalism students in attendance to double-check news, particularly those posted on social media, before spreading them without first confirming their veracity.
