Ambassador Says the Expo Marks a New Phase in Uzbekistan–Qatar Trade Relations
Doha, Qatar – November 30, 2025:
The Embassy of Uzbekistan in Qatar hosted the first-ever Products of Uzbekistan Expo at City Center Mall on Sunday, showcasing a wide range of high-quality food and agricultural products from leading Uzbek manufacturers. The event was inaugurated by H.E. Sheikh Faisal bin Qassim Al Thani and attended by senior diplomats, business leaders, and distinguished guests.
Other notable attendees included H.E. Mohamed bin Twar Al Kuwari, First Vice-Chairman of the Qatar Chamber, Rashid Ali Al-Mansoori, CEO of Aamal Company, and ambassadors from Kazakhstan, Kyrgyzstan, Tajikistan, Azerbaijan, Türkiye, Vietnam, Iran, Indonesia, and Brunei.
The exhibition, organized in collaboration with the Ministry of Investment, Industry and Trade of Uzbekistan and the Agency of Plant Protection and Quarantine, aims to strengthen trade and investment ties between Uzbekistan and Qatar. More than 20 private companies participated, presenting fresh fruits, vegetables, juices, dried fruits, natural products, and premium agricultural goods renowned for their sweetness, purity, and distinctive taste.
Visitors had the opportunity to explore a wide selection of products, reflecting Uzbekistan’s growing potential in global food exports.
During the inauguration, I had the opportunity to speak with H.E. Dr. Ashraf Khodjaev, Ambassador of Uzbekistan to Qatar, in an exclusive interview. He shared valuable insights about the expo and the promising future of Uzbek–Qatari economic relations.
Exclusive Interview with H.E. Dr. Ashraf Khodjaev
Ambassador of Uzbekistan to Qatar
Q: Your Excellency, how excited are you about this event?
Ambassador: It is a great honor and a pleasure. We are very excited because this is the first-ever exhibition of Products of Uzbekistan in Qatar.
Q: How many companies are participating?
Ambassador: More than 20 companies are participating. Many more wanted to join, but our capacity allowed only 20 this time. This is just the beginning. Inshallah, next year we will organize a larger exhibition with even more Uzbek companies.
Q: Which products do you see as having the most potential in Qatar?
Ambassador: Fresh tomatoes, lemons, persimmons, and pomegranates have strong potential. Our fruits are naturally very sweet and have a distinctive taste, thanks to the unique sunlight in Uzbekistan.
Q: Are these companies private or government-owned?
Ambassador: All participating companies are private. The exhibition is organized by the Embassy in cooperation with the Ministry of Investment, Industry and Trade. The government fully supports Uzbek companies entering new markets like Qatar.
Q: How significant is this exhibition for Uzbekistan–Qatar relations?
Ambassador: It is very significant. Trade is key to strengthening our bilateral ties. A new chapter began in 2023 when both leaders met six times, decided to open embassies, launched direct flights between Tashkent and Doha, and established a strategic partnership. This exhibition opens new opportunities for business collaboration.
Q: What message would you like to convey to the people and government of Qatar?
Ambassador: I warmly invite all our Qatari friends to visit the exhibition, explore our products, taste them, and become our customers. We deeply appreciate their support and interest.
Q: When can these products reach Doha commercially?
Ambassador: Our supplier companies will hold B2B meetings with Qatari firms today and tomorrow. If contracts are signed — and I am confident they will be — deliveries could begin as early as January.
Q: Anything you would like to add?
Ambassador: I would like to thank you for this interview and for helping us raise awareness about Uzbekistan and our products in Qatar.
