The Election Commission of Azad Jammu and Kashmir (AJK) has released the final list of candidates for the 2026 Legislative Assembly elections.
According to Election Commission sources, a total of 852 candidates will contest elections across 45 constituencies, while more than 320 candidates withdrew their nomination papers before finalization.
Official figures show 98 candidates will contest from four constituencies in Mirpur district, 63 from three constituencies in Bhimber, and 135 from six constituencies in Kotli district.
In addition, 83 candidates are contesting from four constituencies in Bagh and Haveli, while 126 candidates will compete from seven constituencies in Poonch and Sudhnoti. Neelum district has 51 candidates from two constituencies, Muzaffarabad has 126 candidates from five constituencies, and 34 candidates are contesting from Jhelum Valley constituencies.
The Commission further stated that 126 candidates will compete for 12 reserved seats for Jammu and Kashmir refugees.
Election symbols have been allotted to 24 registered political parties, while symbols for independent candidates will be issued shortly.
With the final list released, election activity is expected to intensify across the region as political parties and independent candidates accelerate their campaigns ahead of the polls.
