MIRPUR (AJK): April 18:: Azad Jammu Kashmir Secretary State Health Services Department Government Brigadier Aamir Raza Tipu inaugurated the latest upgraded Operation Theatre Complex in Mirpur Divisional Headquarters Teaching Hospital Mirpur.
“This upgradation was possible with the mutual collaboration of the State Health Department and the International Non Governmental Organization MAC for provision of modern and quality surgical facilities in the hospital,” Medical Superintendent DHQ Hospital Dr Ijaz Ahmed Raja told our Special Jammu Kashmir State Correspondent Altaf Hamid Rao on this occasion on Saturday.
Speaking on this occasion, Brig. Tipu said that the AJK government was determined to utilize all possible resources for the improvement of the health and medical education sectors in Azad Jammu Kashmir.
He assured continuation of full assistance and cooperation by the government for further upgradation of the hospital and the state-run MBBS Medical College Mirpur-AJK.
The Secretary Health conducted a detailed inspection of the Operation Theatre and reviewed modern equipment, machinery, and facilities provided as per international standards.
He congratulated Medical Superintendent Dr. Ijaz Ahmed Raja, the hospital administration, and staff on this important step, terming it a milestone in the development of the hospital.
After visiting the operation theater, the Health Secretary inspected the Surgical ICU, reviewed patients undergoing treatment, especially those admitted after robotic surgery, and expressed satisfaction over medical facilities provided. He also appreciated the professionalism of doctors and staff.
He was briefed about the “Surgical Week” concluded at the hospital on Friday, during which several complex operations were successfully performed, including robotic surgery. The efforts of Dr. Ashfaq Ahmed Raja (Chairman Organizing Committee) were also appreciated for ensuring the successful organization of the event.
Later, he inspected the Accident and Emergency Department and adjacent areas, reviewing service delivery, cleanliness arrangements, and overall conditions. He was also briefed on a water drain passing through the area, for which a plan has been prepared to cover it and construct a protective wall under the supervision of Medical Superintendent Dr. Ijaz Ahmed Raja to improve hygiene and safety.
On the occasion, Brig. Tipu also planted a sapling in the hospital premises as part of the plantation campaign, stressing environmental improvement through such initiatives.
Medical Superintendent Dr. Ijaz Ahmed Raja gave a detailed briefing on hospital performance and recent development initiatives. He said the upgraded operation theatre complex has enabled complex surgeries at the local level, benefiting patients from Mirpur and adjoining districts.
Secretary Health Brigadier Aamir Raza Tipu appreciated the hospital administration’s performance and particularly the academic and institutional contributions of Professor Dr. Faisal Bashir, Principal Mohtarma Benazir Bhutto Shaheed Medical College Mirpur. He noted that strong coordination between the college and hospital has significantly improved both medical education and treatment services.
