MIRPUR (AJK): February 26 – The Azad Jammu and Kashmir Election Commission (AJK EC), led by Secretary Raja Muhammad Shakeel Khan, held a key meeting with the Election Commission of Pakistan (ECP) in Islamabad on Thursday to discuss preparation and revision of voter lists for Pakistan-based Jammu Kashmir refugee constituencies.
According to AJK EC sources, the meeting was conducted under the directions of Chief Election Commissioner Justice (Retd) Ghulam Mustafa Mughal. The discussions focused on administrative and technical aspects of voter registration, including data verification, accuracy, and timely preparation of electoral lists.
The Secretary of the Election Commission of Pakistan assured full cooperation in all matters related to these constituencies. Both sides agreed to exchange information, provide technical assistance, and adopt a coordinated strategy to ensure the process is efficient and transparent.
The ECP emphasized its commitment to supporting the AJK EC in completing the voter list preparations in accordance with legal requirements. Officials highlighted that these measures are crucial for ensuring that elections for the Azad Jammu and Kashmir Legislative Assembly are conducted systematically, fairly, and in a manner that upholds the integrity of the electoral process.
The meeting concluded with a mutual understanding to maintain close coordination and technical collaboration for the upcoming AJK-LA 2026 elections.
