MIRPUR (AJK), August 2: Azad Jammu and Kashmir (AJK) Prime Minister Faisal Mumtaz Rathore paid tribute to Ghazi-e-Millat Sardar Muhammad Ibrahim Khan on his 23rd death anniversary, highlighting his historic role in the Kashmir freedom movement and the establishment of the Azad Government of the State of Jammu and Kashmir.
In a statement issued on the occasion, the AJK Prime Minister said Sardar Ibrahim Khan devoted his life to the political struggle of the Kashmiri people and remained committed to his principles despite facing numerous challenges.
He said the late leader, who lived from 1915 to 2003, received higher education in London and served as Assistant Advocate General in the Maharaja’s government before entering politics. He later resigned from the Praja Sabha and became a prominent voice for the rights and identity of Kashmiris.
The AJK premier recalled that Sardar Ibrahim Khan launched a strong movement against Dogra rule and played a key role during a critical period in Kashmir’s history. He said his residence in Srinagar became a venue where Kashmiri representatives adopted the historic resolution regarding accession to Pakistan on July 19, 1947.
Paying homage to his services, Rathore said Sardar Ibrahim Khan’s contribution would remain an important chapter in Kashmir’s political history.
He reaffirmed that his government would continue following the path and mission of the late leader. The Prime Minister also expressed solidarity with the people of Jammu and Kashmir and said their political, cultural and social aspirations would continue to receive attention.
The death anniversary of Ghazi-e-Millat was observed in different parts of Azad Jammu and Kashmir and across the Line of Control, with political leaders and activists remembering his services and leadership.
