PML-N Wins Nine Seats in First Phase of AJK Polls

MIRPUR (AJK), July 28: Pakistan Muslim League-Nawaz (PML-N), AJK chapter, secured a decisive victory in the first phase of the Azad Jammu and Kashmir (AJK) Legislative Assembly elections, winning nine out of 13 seats in Mirpur Division, according to official results announced by the AJK Election Commission.
Pakistan Peoples Party (PPP) won the remaining four seats and has called for re-polling in four constituencies, alleging irregularities during the July 27 polling and counting process.
The PML-N candidates secured victories across Mirpur, Bhimber and Kotli districts. In Mirpur district, Azhar Sadiq won LA-1 Dadyal, Chaudhry Rukhsar secured LA-4 Khari Sharif, while PPP candidates Chaudhry Qasim Majeed and Yasir Sultan won LA-2 Chakswari and LA-3 Mirpur City.
In Bhimber district, retired Colonel Waqar Noor, Chaudhry Muhammad Razzaq and Chaudhry Tariq Farooq won LA-5 Barnala, LA-6 Samahni and LA-7 Bhimber seats for PML-N.
In Kotli district, PML-N candidates Umair Naeem, Raja Asif, Raja Riasat and Raja Ayaz Khan won LA-9 Nikyal, LA-11 Sehnsa, LA-12 Charhoi and LA-13 Khoi Ratta, while PPP candidates secured LA-8 Raj Mahal and LA-10 Kotli City.
PPP alleged electoral malpractice in four constituencies and demanded an investigation by the Chief Election Commissioner. Meanwhile, supporters of successful candidates celebrated across Mirpur Division after the results announcement.
The AJK Election Commission confirmed the official results from all 13 constituencies of Mirpur Division, covering Mirpur, Bhimber and Kotli districts. Supporters celebrated their parties’ electoral achievements following the announcement.
