MIRPUR (AJK), June 16 — Azad Jammu and Kashmir Prime Minister Faisal Mumtaz Rathore has directed authorities to ensure comprehensive security arrangements across the region during the holy month of Muharram ul Haraam, emphasizing peace, inter-sect harmony, and the protection of citizens.
In a special message ahead of Muharram, which begins on June 17, the Prime Minister reaffirmed his government’s commitment to utilizing all available resources to maintain peace and provide a safe environment for religious observances throughout Azad Jammu and Kashmir, including major urban centers.
He said Muharram carries important lessons of sacrifice, patience, tolerance, and selflessness, and stressed that maintaining sectarian harmony during this sacred period is essential under all circumstances.
The Prime Minister instructed law enforcement agencies to ensure foolproof security arrangements, directing police and district administrations to remain on high alert and fully prepared to respond to any emergency situation.
He further ordered Commissioners and Deputy Commissioners to remain actively present in the field to monitor arrangements directly. He also emphasized continuous coordination with organizers of Imam Bargahs and Hussainia halls to ensure smooth conduct of religious gatherings and processions.
Special instructions were issued to provide all necessary facilities along procession routes, including clean drinking water and medical assistance, particularly in view of the intense summer heat.
Faisal Mumtaz Rathore reiterated that safeguarding the lives and property of mourners of Imam Hussain (AS) remains the government’s top priority. He said all departments must work in coordination under a unified strategy to ensure peace and stability.
The Prime Minister also urged religious scholars to play a proactive role in promoting unity, tolerance, and brotherhood during Muharram, fostering an atmosphere of religious harmony and mutual respect across the region.
