MIRPUR (AJK), Aug. 21:* Preparations for Eid Milad-un-Nabi (PBUH), marking the birth anniversary of Prophet Muhammad (PBUH), have gained momentum across Azad Jammu Kashmir as the sacred occasion approaches.

Eid Milad-un-Nabi will be observed on Aug. 26, corresponding to 12th Rabi-ul-Awwal, with religious devotion and enthusiasm across AJK and Pakistan. The day will be a public holiday in AJK.

Cities, towns, streets, markets and shopping centres across the territory are being decorated with colourful lights, banners and special gates to mark the occasion. Public and private buildings will also be illuminated at night.

The day will begin with special prayers at Fajr in mosques across AJK. Prayers will be offered for the promotion of Islamic teachings, unity and solidarity among Muslims, as well as peace, security and prosperity in Pakistan and Kashmir.

Milad processions and Mahafil-e-Milad will be organised in major cities, towns and villages. Major gatherings are planned in Muzaffarabad, Mirpur, Kotli, Bagh, Rawalakot, Palandri, Haveli, Bhimber, Neelum Valley and Jhelum Valley, besides tehsil headquarters.

Ulema, religious scholars and speakers will highlight the life and teachings of Prophet Muhammad (PBUH), paying tribute to his message of guidance, compassion and service to humanity. Special addresses will emphasise the importance of following his teachings in daily life and promoting peace, brotherhood and social harmony.

The occasion will also provide an opportunity for communities to come together in a spirit of religious devotion and mutual respect. Organisers and local residents are actively participating in preparations, including decorations and arrangements for processions and gatherings.

Organisers said the occasion would also renew the commitment of Muslims to follow the teachings of Islam and the Sunnah of the Holy Prophet (PBUH).

Sabeels offering milk and soft drinks will be established along procession routes, while various organisations will distribute cooked food among participants and people in need, including the poor and orphans.

The celebrations will be marked with religious gatherings, prayers and expressions of devotion throughout AJK.
