MIRPUR  ( AJK): May  13 :A squade of special athletes from Mirpur AJK Wednesday left for Islamabad to participate in National Special Olympics commencing from Thursday – May 14, it was officially said.

Commissioner Mirpur Division Raja Tahir Mumtaz and Deputy Commissioner Mirpur Sajid Aslam Chaudhry seen off the special children, belonging to local NGO KIAS run school of Special children mostly the hearing impaired kids, official sources told this Correspondent here on Wednesday.

The Four-day Special Olympics will Commence in Islamabad from May 14 to 17, 2026.

According to the details, special athletes of Kashmir Institute of Special Education, a rehabilitation institute  for special children, have left for Islamabad to participate in National Special Olympics 2026. The opening ceremony of this mega evet, being organized by Special Olympics Pakistan, will be held tomorrow evening at the Sports Complex Islamabad. Special athletes from all four provinces of Pakistan, Azad Jammu Kashmir and Gilgit-Baltistan will participate.

According to KISE Director Dr. Amjad Ansari, special athletes of his institution will participate in 100 meters, 200 meters, long jump and relay races in the first phase, while in the second phase, KISE  players will try their luck in powerlifting and cycling.  These special players of KISE were seen off with good wishes by their parents and teachers.

Commissioner Mirpur Division Raja Tahir Mumtaz Khan and Deputy Commissioner Mirpur Chaudhry Sajid Aslam and others  praised the spirit and courage of the special players. These special players of KISE have already made Azad Jammu Kashmir and Pakistan famous at the national and international levels, Dr. Insari said.

The colorful opening ceremony of the Special Olympics National Games 2026 will be held Thursday evening at the Jinnah Sports Complex in Islamabad. In which, besides Special Olympics Pakistan, high officials of the Pakistan Sports Board to be attended by Senior officials  of the Pakistan asports board parents of tge special children and players

The closing ceremony is scheduled  to be held on the evening of May 17.

The AJK squade of the special players left for Islamabad with courage, dedication and a spirit of victory with  return securing land-slide victory in the Olympics
