MIRPUR (AJK), Aug. 12: Deputy Commissioner Mirpur Chaudhry Sajid Aslam has said the people of Kashmir and Pakistan share an “everlasting bond” rooted in history, emotions, affection and a common identity.
He was speaking during a meeting with local government representatives and prominent citizens to review final preparations for Pakistan’s Independence Day celebrations on August 14, along with law and order, public harmony and ways to highlight the Kashmir-Pakistan relationship.
The meeting reaffirmed the resolve to celebrate Independence Day with national enthusiasm, unity, fraternity and harmony. Participants agreed that Mirpur would maintain its traditional celebrations while conveying a positive message to the world about Pakistan’s security, development and prosperity.
Sajid Aslam said the people of Mirpur had demonstrated their wholehearted love and attachment to Pakistan since its creation. He described Pakistan as the centre of their hopes, identity and emotions and stressed the importance of educating younger generations about the historical relationship between Kashmir and Pakistan, the Kashmir freedom struggle and the sacrifices of their elders.
He said Pakistan’s security, stability, progress and prosperity were a collective responsibility, adding that freedom could be protected through unity, discipline, honesty, hard work and national responsibility.
The deputy commissioner paid tribute to the armed forces of Pakistan for their sacrifices in defending the country and safeguarding national security. He also emphasized public service as an important expression of patriotism and said district administration and local government institutions were committed to improving civic facilities and resolving public issues on merit.
Addressing elected representatives, he described them as a cornerstone of democracy and urged them to maintain close contact with citizens and work with the administration to address their problems.
He said brotherhood, tolerance, patience and mutual respect were essential strengths of society, adding that people were united on Pakistan’s security, Kashmir’s interests and public welfare.
The meeting reviewed arrangements for August 14 programmes, including flag-hoisting ceremonies, national songs, public participation, security, sanitation and traffic management. The deputy commissioner directed departments to complete preparations on time to ensure peaceful and well-managed celebrations.
He said Mirpur should convey a message of love for Pakistan, peace, brotherhood, public service and national unity.
