MIRPUR (AJK), July 15: Pakistan Peoples Party (PPP) Chairman Bilawal Bhutto Zardari on Wednesday called for political dialogue and proposed the formation of a “Truth and Reconciliation Commission” to address the ongoing crisis in Azad Jammu and Kashmir (AJK).

Addressing PPP workers and supporters in the AJK capital, Bilawal expressed concern over recent unrest, saying continued tensions could harm Kashmir and Pakistan’s interests. He described the loss of lives in recent incidents as a national tragedy and offered condolences to the families of those killed while praying for the recovery of the injured.

The PPP chairman said every Kashmiri life was valuable and stressed that the deaths of peaceful citizens could not be justified through political disagreements. He also paid tribute to law enforcement personnel who lost their lives during the unrest.

Bilawal said political issues should not be resolved through force or accusations, calling instead for transparent investigations, implementation of agreements, and meaningful negotiations among all stakeholders.

He proposed a Truth and Reconciliation Commission with authority to investigate events, hear all sides, examine political and administrative issues, and recommend solutions. He urged protesters to maintain peace and suggested suspending further actions until a consensus was developed on the commission.

The PPP leader emphasized that the relationship between Pakistan and the people of Kashmir should be based on respect, democratic rights, and public trust. He also called for reforms to strengthen political, economic, and administrative empowerment in AJK.

Bilawal suggested greater participation of AJK representatives in national forums and advocated local control over land and resources to improve governance and economic opportunities.

He urged political parties, activists, and institutions to act responsibly and prevent divisions that could benefit hostile elements.

Concluding his address, Bilawal said the PPP would continue working for democratic solutions, good governance, and the rights of the people of Azad Jammu and Kashmir.
