Brisk Preparations Underway for First Phase of AJK Polls in Mirpur Division

MIRPUR (AJK), July 23: The Mirpur Division administration has completed final preparations to ensure peaceful, transparent and well-organised conduct of the first phase of Azad Jammu and Kashmir (AJK) General Elections scheduled for July 27.
Commissioner Mirpur Division Raja Tahir Mumtaz Khan and Deputy Inspector General (DIG) Kamran Ali chaired a high-level meeting to review arrangements for maintaining law and order in Mirpur, Bhimber and Kotli districts during the polling process.
The meeting conducted a detailed assessment of key election-related arrangements, including security measures, transportation facilities, uninterrupted electricity supply, healthcare services and coordination among various government departments.
Officials from health, education, electricity and other relevant departments briefed the participants about their preparations and ongoing measures to facilitate smooth polling.
Addressing the meeting, Commissioner Raja Tahir Mumtaz Khan directed all departments to complete their arrangements before polling day and perform their duties with full dedication. He instructed the electricity department to ensure uninterrupted power supply and avoid load-shedding during the election process.
He also directed the health and education departments to finalise their plans promptly and ensure availability of required facilities. The commissioner stressed the importance of timely sharing of focal persons’ details to improve coordination among departments and enable quick response in emergency situations.
Raja Tahir Mumtaz Khan said peaceful, transparent and orderly elections were a collective responsibility of all institutions. He added that the administration was committed to providing voters with a secure and conducive environment to exercise their democratic right.
Encouraging citizens to participate actively in the July 27 elections, he said a strong voter turnout would strengthen democratic traditions and contribute to political stability in the region.
DIG Kamran Ali informed the meeting that comprehensive security arrangements had been finalised for maintaining law and order during the elections. He said close coordination between police, civil administration and other departments would ensure a secure and smooth polling process.
He reaffirmed that all available resources would be utilised to ensure peaceful, impartial and transparent elections, expressing confidence that coordinated efforts would lead to the successful completion of the electoral process.
The meeting was attended by senior officers from health, education, electricity and other concerned departments.
