Multan: MNS University of Agriculture, Multan, celebrated World Earth Day 2026 on April 22, 2026, under the global theme “Our Power, Our Planet” with great enthusiasm under the auspices of the Department of Soil & Environmental Sciences. On this occasion, a series of activities—including an awareness seminar, poster and model competitions, a mini marathon, an awareness walk, a tree plantation drive, and plant distribution—were organized in collaboration with the Department of Outreach and Continuing Education and the Senior Tutor Office. Asif Ali (T.I.), Vice Chancellor of the university, inaugurated the Earth Day celebrations and presided over the seminar session. A large number of students, researchers, industry stakeholders, and farmers participated in the event.
Addressing the audience, Prof. Dr. Asif Ali emphasized that youth are the real power that will shape the future of the planet. He highlighted the need to utilize knowledge, skills, and technology for the sustainable use of natural resources and environmental protection, and urged continued collective efforts toward sustainability for future generations.
Distinguished speakers, including Samia Nasreen (Women University Multan), Tahir Abbas (EPA Multan), and Dr. Nadeem (FFC Multan), delivered insightful talks on sustainability and emphasized the urgent need to protect the environment.
The event brought together students, faculty members, and stakeholders to highlight the importance of environmental conservation and sustainable practices. Dr. Wazir Ahmed and Prof. Dr. Hammad Nadeem Tahir (Dean, Faculty) appreciated the efforts of students and faculty for their active participation in promoting environmental awareness. Faculty members, including Dr. Tanveer ul Haq, Dr. Umair Riaz, Dr. Ayta Umar, Dr. Muhammad Arif, Dr. Shakeel, Dr. Baqir Hussain, Dr. Imran, Dr. Usman Jamshaid, and Dr. Akhtar Hameed, also played an effective role in organizing and executing the event.
