KUWAIT CITY, July 27: A Chinese construction company has signed a major contract to develop the North Kabd Wastewater Treatment Plant and Related Works Project in Kuwait under Belt and Road cooperation between China and Kuwait.
China State Construction Engineering Corporation Ltd. (CSCEC) signed the agreement at Bayan Palace in Kuwait’s Hawalli Governorate, marking a significant step in infrastructure and environmental cooperation between the two countries.
Kuwaiti Minister of Public Works Noura Al-Mashaan said the project represents a key development initiative for Kuwait’s wastewater management system and reflects growing practical cooperation with China.
The project aims to enhance Kuwait’s wastewater collection, transportation, treatment and reuse of reclaimed water, while supporting the country’s Vision 2035 and sustainable economic and social development goals.
The initiative highlights high-quality Belt and Road cooperation in infrastructure development and environmental protection. Kuwaiti Prime Minister Sheikh Ahmad Abdullah Al-Ahmad Al-Sabah, Chinese Embassy representatives, government officials and CSCEC representatives attended the signing ceremony.
Upon completion, the project is expected to strengthen Kuwait’s water management capabilities and contribute to long-term environmental sustainability.
