KIGALI, July 16: A traditional Chinese medicine (TCM) clinic has opened at Kibungo Hospital in eastern Rwanda, marking another step in the health cooperation between Rwanda and China.
Chinese Ambassador to Rwanda Gao Wenqi said the new clinic represents a new chapter in bilateral medical partnership, building on decades of Chinese support to Kibungo Hospital.
Gao said the facility is the second TCM clinic established in a Rwandan hospital after Masaka Hospital, and will help meet increasing local demand for traditional Chinese medicine services.
He added that China remains committed to expanding health cooperation with Rwanda and ensuring that TCM benefits more people.
Kibungo Hospital Director General Jean Claude Munyemana praised China’s continued assistance, highlighting the valuable contributions of Chinese medical teams in surgery, anesthesia, critical care and acupuncture.
He expressed appreciation for the dedication of Chinese healthcare professionals, saying their expertise and services have significantly supported medical care at the hospital.
The opening of the clinic reflects growing cooperation between the two countries in healthcare, while providing patients in Rwanda with additional treatment options through traditional Chinese medicine.
