Chinese Embassy in Doha celebrates 10th anniversary of strategic partnership with Qatar

On Sunday, the Chinese embassy in Doha celebrated the 10th anniversary of the establishment of the strategic partnership between Qatar and China at a reception attended by several dignitaries. The program commenced with the National Anthems of both countries.

Chinese Ambassador Cao Xiaolin warmly welcomed the guests, including HE Dr. Ahmed bin Hassan al-Hammadi, Secretary-General of Qatar’s Ministry of Foreign Affairs; Saleh bin Majid al-Khulaifi, Assistant Undersecretary for Industry Affairs and Business Development at Qatar’s Ministry of Commerce and Industry; Maha Zayed Qaqaa Alruwaili, Assistant Undersecretary for Educational Affairs at Qatar’s Ministry of Education and Higher Education; as well as diplomats and other dignitaries.

Addressing the gathering, the Chinese envoy said:

“Distinguished Guests, Ladies and Gentlemen, Good evening.

On behalf of the Chinese Embassy in Qatar, we warmly welcome all of you to this reception marking the 10th anniversary of the establishment of the strategic partnership between China and Qatar.

In 2014, HH Sheikh Tamim bin Hamad bin Khalifa Al Thani paid a state visit to China. During the visit, H.E. President Xi Jinping and HH Sheikh Tamim announced the establishment of a strategic partnership between China and Qatar, aiming to elevate bilateral practical cooperation to new heights.

Over the past decade, this strategic partnership has become a model for state-to-state relationships worldwide. Under the guidance of H.E. President Xi Jinping and HH Sheikh Tamim, this partnership has reached its pinnacle. Our deep friendship has taken root among our peoples, and our cooperation has yielded fruitful outcomes across various fields. Drawing from the development of our diplomatic ties, several key experiences can guide our future endeavors.

Firstly, both China and Qatar uphold principles of equality. Despite our different histories and cultures, our countries respect each other’s paths of development, firmly support each other’s sovereignty, security, and development interests, and maintain control over our own futures.

Secondly, both China and Qatar emphasize mutual trust and mutual assistance as the foundation of our strategic partnership. Over the years, we have strengthened political trust and will continue to support each other’s core interests and major concerns.

Thirdly, both China and Qatar are committed to win-win cooperation. China has been Qatar’s largest trading partner for the past four years, with Qatar now the second-largest exporter of LNG to China. This relationship is set to continue, with Qatar as a long-term and stable LNG supplier to China. Both countries have expanded cooperation under the Belt and Road Initiative (BRI) and aligned it with Qatar National Vision 2030. China’s modernization will bring more opportunities to Qatar and the world, and China welcomes Qatar as a partner on this path.

Fourthly, both China and Qatar uphold fairness and justice. The China-Qatar strategic partnership stands on the right side of history. Both nations share similar views on global issues, including the recent conflict in Gaza, advocating for restraint and de-escalation. This partnership contributes positively to global peace and development.

In conclusion, the 10th anniversary of our strategic partnership marks a milestone in our bilateral relations. The Chinese Embassy in Qatar is committed to further strengthening our friendship and expanding our cooperation across all sectors. We look forward to continuing to build a future of prosperity and mutual benefit for both our peoples.
